Whining and Dining

This one is for city folk those of us that are or were Metropolitan and Cosmopolitan (Nope.. not the magazine).
To be considered eligible for this category one must reside or have resided in a major cosmopolitan city at some point of your life for more than a period of 2 years.
Just Metropolitan wont do though, you need to be Cosmopolitan too to fit into this category.
My claim to fit comes from the 24 odd years of my life that I resided in Bombay (thats what I call it..Bite me ). One of the busiest cities in the world.
Whilst residing in the city I never realized my or rather our addiction to dining.
Only recently did I notice that the major topic of conversation when it comes to city folks is always food. And it does not matter which city you come from, every Metropolitan knows the best eateries in his/her side of town.
Not to insult suburbia, or ruralites but the best dining places are always in the city. And I don't mean high end dining I mean roadside eateries or small cafes hidden in nooks that normal folks or tourists would never find.
Have you ever noticed that the factor that brings city folk together is always a conversation about the best or cheapest or spiciest etc..type of food they have consumed in some forsaken part of the city.

And for us dipsomaniacs, the question is always how late is the eatery open. The later, the better. No no, we don't eat at 24 hr chain restaurants, to qualify as a worthy eatery worthy enough to be mentioned in metropolitan conversation the eatery must be a one of a kind place.
Some place that makes the folk from that city proud to live there, cause no other city has it. Run down or upscale places if people around did not mind we'd lick our plates.

So heres to you or rather Cheers to you oh Metropolite, go forth and eat more than you can chew cause that makes for good conversation....

Bon Manger
